1. Allen Iverson Way
Basketball fans, take note! This street, located at 16th Street and Walnut Avenue, honors NBA Hall of Famer Allen Iverson. Though Iverson grew up in Hampton, his formative childhood years were spent in Newport News’ East End, and this street pays tribute to his legacy. Read the full story here.
2. Lee Hall Depot
Built circa 1881, Lee Hall Depot is the only remaining historic train station of five once located on the Peninsula. Now a museum, it highlights the area’s rail history and its significant role in the development of Newport News.
3. The Tugboat Dorothy
A true symbol of our shipbuilding history, the Dorothy was the first ship built by Newport News Shipbuilding. Launched in 1891, it was restored after a collision in 1964 and now sits outside the shipyard, proudly honoring the city’s maritime legacy.
4. The Victory Arch
