Newport News, VA, Jan. 2, 2025 – The Newport News Ambassador Pass program, now in its 25th year, encourages Newport News residents and City of Newport News employees and retirees to be “visitors” in their own hometown. The goal of the program is to give pass-holders an opportunity to learn more about the wealth of activities available in Newport News so the information can be shared with visiting friends and family. It is also available to students attending Christopher Newport University and to active-duty military families residing at Fort Eustis. 

The Ambassador Pass provides free one-time admission to seven attractions – plus a free round of disc golf at Newport News Park – for two adults (age 16 and older) and two children. Check in at the Newport News Visitor Center to receive your disc golf pass and a rental disc for no charge. 

Those requesting an Ambassador Pass will be asked to show proof of Newport News residency or City of Newport News employment/retirement. Ambassador Passes will be honored at the following attractions during these weeks in January and February: 

Jan. 13-19, 2025 Lee Hall Mansion (Open Wed-Sat) Virginia Living Museum (Open daily) 

Jan. 20-26, 2025 Historic Endview (Open Wed-Sat) The Mariners’ Museum & Park (Open daily) 

Jan. 27-Feb. 2, 2025 Newport News Park Disc Golf (Check in at the Visitor Center between 9 am and 5 pm daily) Virginia War Museum (Open Wed-Sun) 

Feb. 3-9, 2025 Peninsula SPCA & Barnyard (Open Mon-Sat)

Feb. 7-8, 2025 Lee Hall Depot (Open Fri-Sat only) 

Ambassador Passes are available for pickup from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at the Newport News Visitor Center, 13560 Jefferson Ave. They can also be picked up from Newport News Tourism, 702 Town Center Drive, open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. 

For those in Downtown Newport News, passes can be picked up between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday from the Communications Office on the 6th floor of City Hall. Passes will be available at the three locations for the duration of the program, which ends Feb. 9, 2025. 

The yearly Ambassador Pass is underwritten by those attractions that typically charge admission. City residents and employees are also encouraged to visit our free attractions – The Newsome House Museum & Cultural Center, Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center, U.S. Army Transportation Museum, Mary M.
