FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEWPORT NEWS, VA, March 24, 2026 – The Tour of Newport News is returning for its fourth year, bringing more excitement than ever before. During the weekend of April 10-12, this three-day, five-event USA Cycling-sanctioned omnium attracts both amateurs and professionals from across the country. Competing for more than $23,000 in cash prizes, the event remains the most popular bicycle race in the Mid-Atlantic. Whether you’re a racer or a first-time spectator, this is one event you don’t want to miss!

The weekend begins Friday, April 10, with the Todd Stadium Points Race, where riders compete in a high-intensity race, sprinting for points every five laps. Later that evening, the new City Center Hill Climb debuts at City Center at Oyster Point. Cyclists will climb an eight-story parking garage, starting at 20-second intervals and finishing in 1:30-2:00 minutes. Spectators are encouraged to cheer on the racers and enjoy the lively atmosphere.

Saturday, April 11, begins the Crawford Road Time Trial, a five-mile race that tests both physical fitness and mental fortitude. Riders navigate rolling terrain on the historic Crawford Road as they attempt to set the fastest individual time. Later that evening, the action moves to the Newport News Twilight Criterium, beginning with the Wee Wheel Wee Tour of Newport News kids event, followed by the evening’s main competitive events.

Beyond the races, enjoy a community-friendly atmosphere at City Hall, featuring a vendor expo, food and drinks, free swag, and opportunities to win prizes.

The Tour concludes on Sunday April 12, with the Fort Eustis Circuit Race, offering a unique racing experience on an active-duty military base. The event includes categories for Wounded Warriors and para-racers.
