NEWPORT NEWS, VA, March 5, 2025 – The Tour of Newport News is back, and it’s bigger,

faster, and more thrilling than ever! The weekend of April 11-13 will buzz with high-speed

action as top racers from across the country converge on Newport News to compete for more

than $15,000 in cash and prizes. Whether you’re a die-hard cycling fan or just love high-energy

events, this is one weekend you won’t want to miss!

It kicks off Friday, April 11, at Todd Stadium with the Todd Stadium Points Race. This fast-

paced event keeps the intensity high as riders sprint for points every five laps. With lead changes

and strategic moves, it’s a battle of speed, endurance, and tactics from start to finish!

On Saturday morning, April 12, the race heads to nearby Yorktown for the Crawford Road Time

Trial, a short but grueling test of speed and endurance on a rolling five-mile course. But the real

party starts that afternoon when the action returns to Downtown Newport News for the Newport

News Twilight Criterium in The Yard District. This “figure-eight” race is one of the most

technical and thrilling in the Mid-Atlantic!

Before the pros take the course, children from 2 to 10 can join a FREE “Kids Fun Race” at 12:15

p.m. The Criterium kicks off at 12:30 p.m. with elite cyclists tackling a tight, fast-paced course –

lined with spectators. Expect high-speed action, sharp turns, and daring moves as racers battle

for victory.

But the excitement isn’t just on the track. The festival atmosphere at City Hall includes food,

drinks, a vendor expo, and fun games like Bike Race Bingo, where fans can win prizes from

local businesses. Legendary announcer Joe Jefferson will be back to break down the action, so

even first-time spectators can follow along and get in on the excitement.

The Tour wraps up Sunday, April 13, with the Fort Eustis Circuit Race, featuring military

categories, Wounded Warriors, and para-racers on a fast, flat 5K course inside an active military

base.
